PVDF Tanks Ultra-High Chemical Resistance Solutions
(Polyvinylidene Fluoride)
PVDF tanks are manufactured from a specialized fluoropolymer considered one of the highest chemical resistance thermoplastic materials available. PVDF maintains stability in extremely harsh environments during prolonged contact with strong acids, organic solvents, bases, oxidizers, and corrosive materials without decomposition, structural changes, or loss of mechanical properties.
The material is particularly suitable for industrial processes at high operating temperatures up to 140°C continuous operation, with even higher peak temperature capabilities. Additionally, it resists UV radiation, does not absorb moisture, maintains smooth internal surfaces, and suffers no thermal or environmental aging.
PVDF is the preferred material for applications requiring maximum chemical resistance, high process purity, and extended service life under extreme conditions without compromise.
Primary Applications:
- Strong Acid Storage: Sulfuric acid, hydrofluoric acid, and other aggressive chemicals
- Semiconductor Industries: Electronics manufacturing and research laboratory applications
- Gas and Vapor Treatment: Volatile chemical processing systems
- Pharmaceutical Manufacturing: Sterile processes and high-purity requirements
Key Performance Advantages
Chemical Resistance: Among the highest in the industry, including resistance to extremely aggressive materials. Thermal Stability enables continuous operation up to 140°C with excellent performance retention.
Surface Properties: The smooth, contamination-resistant surface is ideal for sterile processes and high-purity applications. The material does not absorb moisture, maintains dimensional stability, and preserves properties over extended periods.
Environmental Durability: Excellent resistance to UV radiation, oxidation, and environmental stress cracking ensures long-term reliability in demanding outdoor and indoor applications.
FRP External Armor for PVDF Tanks - Combined Structural Strength
Due to its exceptional chemical resistance, PVDF excels as an inner liner material. When structural reinforcement, pressure loads, or external environmental protection is required, external FRP armor can be integrated. This armor combines PVDF's chemical protection properties with high mechanical strength and long-term structural stability. The armor is fully customized to tank engineering specifications and system requirements.
Advanced Alternative - ECTFE (Ethylene Chlorotrifluoroethylene)
Alongside PVDF, consider ECTFE (also known by the trade name Halar®), another advanced thermoplastic from the fluoropolymer family. ECTFE offers even higher chemical resistance, particularly against strong oxidizers, chlorine, chlorine dioxide, oxidative acids, and disinfectant solutions. It maintains properties under extreme chemical and thermal conditions, suitable for continuous operation up to 150°C.
Like PVDF, ECTFE features smooth, contamination-resistant surfaces, UV resistance, and no moisture absorption. It can be used as a complete structural material or as internal lining for armored tanks, especially when maximum resistance levels are required.
